Short answer
Every fee on this site comes from a public price list or from real processor statements, and every published price shows the date we last checked it. Calculator results are illustrations based on stated assumptions, never quotes. If you find an error, tell us and we'll correct it.
Where our fee data comes from
- Stripe's published pricing. Card rates, surcharges, dispute fees and product fees (Billing, Invoicing, Tax, Radar, Connect, Instant Payouts) come from stripe.com/pricing and its product pricing pages, read from a US connection. Last checked: .
- Card network fee schedules. Interchange categories and network fees come from the rates Visa and Mastercard publish for US merchants.
- Processor statements. When merchants send statements for analysis, we see what card processing really costs line by line. We never publish a merchant's data.
How often we check
We re-check every published price quarterly, and within 48 hours of a published price change by Stripe or the card networks. Each page that quotes Stripe's prices shows the date of the last check. When a number changes, we update the page and its "last updated" date.
How the savings calculator works
The Stripe fee calculator uses a simple model to show the average savings we can make for a given volume and industry. You enter your card volume and what you pay now (an effective rate, total fees, or "I don't know", which applies Stripe's published pricing). The model then prices the same volume at interchange-plus, using a typical card mix for your industry (e-commerce and retail, saas and subscriptions, marketplace or platform, travel and hospitality, healthcare and wellness, education, something else), your average transaction and your share of international cards, plus a markup that falls as volume rises.
The result is an illustration, not a quote. Real interchange depends on your exact card mix, and the exact proposal comes after we review your statements and learn about your business.
How the free statement analysis works
- We add up every fee on your statements for a period and divide by your card volume for the same period. That is your effective rate.
- We price the same volume and card mix under the proposed interchange-plus pricing, line by line.
- The difference, on total fees, is your saving. You get it in writing, with every assumption shown.
Statements are used only for the analysis and are deleted on request. See the privacy policy.
