Getting help from Stripe when it's urgent

When payouts stop or payments fail, every hour counts. Here's how Stripe's support is set up, how to reach the team that can act on your problem, and what to have ready when you do.

Short answer

Stripe says all customers get 24x7 phone, email and chat help, reached through support.stripe.com while signed in. Paid plans (Growth, Premium and Enterprise) add faster responses for critical issues and, on Premium and Enterprise, a dedicated technical account manager. For urgent problems, reach the right team with complete information on the first contact.

What support does Stripe offer?

Stripe says on its support plans page that all customers receive 24x7 phone, email and chat help, plus documentation and a developer community. You start a conversation from support.stripe.com while signed in to your account.

Three paid plans add more:

Stripe support plans, as described on stripe.com/support-plans
PlanWhat it adds
All customers24x7 phone, email and chat help
GrowthPriority, context-aware support and a 15-minute response target for critical issues
PremiumProactive monitoring and recommendations, prioritized support from a dedicated technical account manager
EnterpriseA dedicated team of specialists, with a technical account manager embedded in your team

Stripe doesn't publish prices for these plans; they're sold through its sales team.

How to contact Stripe support: phone, email and chat

Every channel starts from the same place: sign in to your Stripe account and go to support.stripe.com, so the conversation is tied to your account. Stripe doesn't publish a general support phone number to call cold.

Which team handles which problem?

Most delays come from a request reaching a team that can't decide on it. Name the problem precisely so it goes to the right place:

  • Risk and account reviews: paused payouts, reserves, requests for information, account restrictions. See when Stripe holds your funds.
  • Payouts: missing or delayed transfers to your bank when no review is involved.
  • Disputes: evidence, deadlines and dispute fees. See chargeback and dispute costs.
  • Technical: API errors, integration problems, webhooks, outages.
  • Sales: custom pricing, contracts and paid support plans.

What to prepare before you contact them

  1. Your account ID and the exact Dashboard notice or error message.
  2. The payment, payout or dispute IDs involved, with dates and amounts.
  3. What changed recently: volume, products, customers, bank details.
  4. Evidence that answers the likely question: contracts, delivery records, refund and dispute rates.
  5. What you need and by when, for example "release of the payout due on Friday to cover payroll".

Keep everything in writing in the same thread, so each new person sees the full history.

What to do when a ticket isn't moving

  • Reply on the same thread rather than opening a new one, with your account ID and the payment, payout or dispute IDs, so the history stays in one place.
  • Ask which team owns the case and what it still needs from you. A clear list of missing items can be the fastest route to a decision.
  • Use the contacts you have: your account executive if you work with Stripe's sales team, or your technical account manager on a paid support plan.
  • Keep account details private. Never post account or payment IDs in public forums or social media, and ignore anyone offering "account recovery" services: Stripe support works only through your signed-in account.

Do you get an account manager, and at what volume?

Stripe doesn't publish a volume threshold for an account manager. Stripe invites businesses with large volumes to contact its sales team, and the Premium and Enterprise support plans include a dedicated technical account manager. Ask Stripe directly what your volume qualifies for, ideally before you need it.

What paid support changes, and what it doesn't

A paid plan buys speed and context: faster responses, a technical contact who knows your integration, and proactive monitoring. It doesn't change who makes risk decisions. Reserves, paused payouts and account reviews are decided by risk teams under the account terms, so the best lever is still giving them complete information quickly.

When a direct relationship with your processor matters

For a company processing tens of millions a year, payments problems are revenue problems. A direct relationship, with someone who knows your business before anything goes wrong, shortens every incident: holds, declines, large deals and disputes. It also helps to have a second payment path, so one account's problem doesn't stop all revenue. See how to switch from Stripe, including running two processors.

How 71P handles this

71P moves high-volume merchants to interchange-plus pricing with our licensed processing partner. Here's what that changes for this problem:

One person who knows your business

You get one dedicated person who stays the same, knows you and your business, and is reachable directly. On standard plans, Stripe's support runs through shared phone, email and chat queues, not a named contact.

Preventing holds, and working through them

We help customers prevent holds: we show you what triggers reviews and what to prepare before a launch, a large deal or a volume spike. If a transaction is held, your dedicated person works on it with you until it's resolved. No processor can promise there will never be a hold: every processor underwrites and can hold funds.

Support questions

Does Stripe have phone support?

Yes. Stripe says all customers get 24x7 phone, email and chat help, reached through support.stripe.com while signed in. Paid support plans (Growth, Premium and Enterprise) add faster response commitments for critical issues and, on Premium and Enterprise, a dedicated technical account manager.

At what volume does Stripe assign an account manager?

Stripe doesn't publish a volume threshold. Stripe invites businesses with large volumes to contact its sales team, and its Premium and Enterprise support plans include a dedicated technical account manager. Ask Stripe directly what your volume qualifies for.

Can paid support reverse a risk decision?

Paid support speeds up answers and gives you a dedicated technical contact, but decisions about reserves, paused payouts and account reviews are made by risk teams under the account terms. What helps most is giving those teams complete, fast information.
